Howdy SBTL,
We have a great update for you this month! Steve, Kerry and I continue our transition on the back office tasks.
The back office is basically divided into three conceptual areas: 1) prep before the shoot, 2) processing after the shoot and 3) newsletter related stuff.
With just a little guidance from me, Steve and Kerry performed the first and second set of tasks including all the shoot setup, and the printing of all the reports and score-sheets used for the July shoot. After the shoot was over, they uploaded all the data into the Website and performed all the SBTL calculations themselves. I will continue to Sheppard these processes over the next few months and we feel confident that there will be no negative impact to the league during the transition.
Speaking of the league, we want to take a moment to simply say "Thank you" to all those shooters that have offered to help us run the league (you know who you are). It is really kind of everyone and it is nice to know that people care enough to not only shoot, but to offer their assistance. Steve and Kerry will be chatting with folks as they determine the appropriate jobs that they wish to farm out.
For those that are new (and old) to the SBTL, the last half of the year is really exciting with the league. More and more shooters make their presence known as they cross the 5 shoot barrier for entry into the Year-End Standings. The jockeying for position really gets heated. Remember nothing is decided until the fat-lady sings and the last bird is shot in October. Everyone still has a chance to better their scores and improve their position!
This goes for Team Standings too!! Our top 3 teams-to-date this year are Sunnyvale, Los Banos and Livermore. Come on Livermore Team Members: you still have the opportunity to knock off those Sunnyvale and Los Banos blokes from the top spot. Come on out and shoot for your TEAM!
Please remember that the next shoot at Metcalf is out of the normal cycle and held on the FIRST SATURDAY of the month to try to accommodate those shooters that attend the Grand American. For those of you that will be travelling to Sparta, the members of the SBTL wish everyone Good Luck!
Oh ... one last thought ... I know I remind shooters that "Gun Safety is Everyone’s Business" every single month. Please understand that this is not just route communication or me just trying to fill up space in the newsletter. The SBTL and host clubs have had a fabulous record to date because our shooters exercise excellent gun safety and handling. This little reminder is simply to say "Thanks" and "Keep up the good work".
Everyone continue to enjoy our nice cool summer and Happy Shooting,
Warren FAY
